8:30-9:30- Arrival
9:30a-10:00a- Group Greeting and Circle Time
Morning Circle time is used to greet all our friends
with our famous “Buenos Dias” song. We do
encourage all children to participate in dance, singing,
finger plays and story time,which are essential pieces
to pre-literacy. This is also a time of discussion about
the happenings in the curriculum.
10:00-10:45a-Morning Snack. We have an open snack
where the children can sit and eat when they feel
hungry.
10:45-11:45a-Inside/Outside Choices or Appointments
Research proves that children learn best through play
& through their own interests. We provide various
choices for the children to make. Teachers work with
the children in the morning to make their appointments.
Once they are in their appointments the teachers are
close by to help the children with language
development, social skills, letter & number recognition
& most importantly peer interaction. Our emphasis is
teaching the children socially acceptable behaviors to
get their needs met amongst their peer group. You will
rarely see a teacher solving a problem for the child;
instead you will see the teacher FACILITATE problem
solving through conversation between the children.
This skill will be extremely beneficial for kindergarten.
Please feel free to talk to Milena if you would like to
learn more about this approach & how to implement it
at home. Teachers will also include FOCUS WORK in
the curriculum which extends the children’s interest.
Examples of “Focus Work” are Introducing Painting
techniques using various size brushes, clay/ceramic
work, working with wire & creating obstacle courses.
11:45-12pm-Clean up and Lunch Time:
Teachers sit with the children and enjoy lunch and
conversation all together.
12:30-3:00p- Nap/Rest Time Children lay on their
mats and sleep or rest to relaxing music. A teacher
lays with each child and reads them a book before
tucking them in.
3:00-4:00p- Wake up and Snack. We do not wake up
children. We allow each child to sleep if they need to.
We recognize that each child may fall asleep at
different times so they will wake up at different times.
We respect each child's rythm.
4:00-4:45p - Inside/Outside Free Choice/On some
days Enrichment Class
4:40-5:00p-Circle Time/Goodbye
5:00-5:30p-Children wait for their grown up to pick up.
